About
Sarah Ashford

I'm Sarah and welcome to my online studio. Connecting with other quilters around the world and living a creative life is what feeds my soul.

I'm really happy you've found my page!  I've been stitching since I was six years old, and quilting is my passion.  As a former City and Guilds student I have extensive knowledge and skills in quilting traditions and techniques.  From simple piecing, applique, foundation paper piecing, block design, I've had fun doing it all! I am passionate about patchwork and prefer the modern aesthetic of straight line quilting, with it's endless possibilities.

I also love slow stitching, particularly English Paper Piecing (which is so on trend right now!) and I love adding hand quilting to some of my quilts to create that heirloom finish. I'm the founder and Chairman of the South West Modern Quilt Guild; a role that I absolutely love, as it's brought together over 30 quilters from the South West and we have such fun stitching and chatting and learning from one another. I contribute projects to magazines including Love Patchwork and Quilting, Quilt Now and Sewing World and make samples for the UK design house, Dashwood Studio. I also write articles for the Modern Quilt Guild Resources page.

I love to share my work on Instagram, where I have great fun meeting and connecting with the wonderful online quilting community. So do look me up @sarahashfordstudio and I can see your work too.
